Periodontics/ Soft Tissue Management
Not surprisingly, gum disease, or periodontitis, is one of the leading attributes of poor dental health. Periodontitis, also referred to as Gingivitis, occurs when harmful bacteria (plaque) begins growing in the region between the gums and the tooth’s roots. Signs of gum disease include bleeding during tooth brushing; sensitive, red or swollen gums; bad breath; and teeth that are loose or appear to have shifted from their original position. If left unchecked, gum disease almost always leads to the loss of the affected teeth. At Island Dentistry, our non-surgical periodontal program, Soft Tissue Management, is a pain-free procedure that has proven very effective for patients with simple gingivitis to severe periodontal disease.
